Meet Buttercup & Clover

Buttercup and Clover, are the two latest arrivals at St James City Farm . The ‘Dexter’ breed of cows are both girls and one is just over 6 months and the other 10 months old. Dexter cows are the smallest native breed of cattle in the UK and originate from Ireland. The ‘farm’ had one that lived for over twenty years and was due a replacement for some time but awaiting sponsorship, so fortunately Gloucestershire Young Farmers Association and local retired farmer Eric Farmer sponsored these friendly creatures.

Pony Racing!

Pony racing introduction: For boys or girls aged 9 -14 @ St James City Farm on Tues 26th May, 2pm. A chance for children to try out the ‘equicisor’ a dummy race horse used to train jockeys, and to register your children on a course to try out racing ponies. The course is planned to run at the farm during Summer and hopefully enter some children for races later in the year. Come along to the open day to find out more. This programme is run by the Pony Racing Authority, who will be subsidising the course to make it affordable or even free.
